How to Verify an Employer Before Applying or Accepting
A few quick checks can tell you whether an employer is real. Use this checklist before sending documents or accepting an offer.

Not every company that posts a job is genuine. Take a few minutes to check, especially before sharing personal documents or travelling for an interview.
1. Look for an official website
Does the company have a professional website with clear information about what it does, its address and contact details? Be careful if there is nothing, or if the site looks copied.
2. Check their social pages
Look for activity over time, such as posts, comments and real customers. A page created last week with no history deserves caution.
3. Search the company name
Add words like "reviews", "complaints" or "scam" to your search. Read carefully, as some comments may be unfair, but patterns matter.
4. Confirm the contact person
Ask for the full name and role of the person contacting you. Check whether they appear on the company's official pages.
5. Visit in a safe way
If you are invited to an interview in person, confirm the address, tell a friend or family member, and meet in an official office or a public place. Be careful of invitations to homes or unknown locations.
6. Look at the email address
Official emails should match the company domain, for example name@company.com. Be wary of spelling tricks like "c0mpany" or free email accounts for large firms.
7. Ask about the process
Ask how the interview works, who you will meet and what documents are needed. Real employers can explain this clearly.
8. Protect your documents
Share only what is needed at each stage. A CV is fine for applications. ID, bank or tax details are usually only needed after an offer, and only through secure, official channels.
9. Get everything in writing
Salary, duties, start date and terms should be written clearly in an offer letter.
10. Trust your instincts
If something feels wrong, wait. A good employer will respect your caution.
